New toys can be fun, but sometimes it's hard to learn how to use a new toy. Learning is not always fun, but it's rewarding.
When you are faced with learning something new or hard, you have to change your mindset. Realize YOU can do hard things.
QUESTIONS FOR DISCUSSION:
Do you think that learning is hard? Why or why not?
Is there a particular subject in school or chore you do at home that you think is hard to do? What is it? Why do you think it’s hard?
How can you change your mindset about learning even when it’s hard?
Do you think you can do hard things? Why or why not?
How does it make you feel to know that you can do hard things?
Think of something that you were faced with that was hard. What was it? What did you do to accomplish the task or reach the goal?
If you are having a hard time learning something new, what are some things you can do about it?
Think about something you really don’t like to do (for me, it was shoveling snow when I was a kid). How can you change your mindset to help you accomplish the task? How do you think you will feel once you have completed that task? Why do you feel that way? Tell me about it.
