Stop Hating Yourself

It’s natural to compare ourselves to others. But I think it’s important to focus on who we are and not on who we aren’t.

Watch the video and have a discussion with your class or someone you know. Below, there are some suggested questions or writing prompts.

Do you put yourself down or talk down to yourself? Do you say mean things to yourself? Do you hate yourself?

I definitely struggle with this as well.

We all have doubts about ourselves and wonder if we measure up. It’s natural to compare ourselves to others. But I think it’s important to focus on who we are and not on who we aren’t.

“Stop hating yourself for everything you aren’t. Start loving yourself for everything you are.”

Social media has made it so much easier to compare ourselves with others. It’s truly overwhelming when you think about it.

I think being able to compare ourselves to so many people leads us to beat ourselves up. We sometimes forget that what we see online is usually the best of everyone’s life. It’s carefully curated photos and videos of the best parts of someone.

We can’t focus on what other people are doing and be productive. We can certainly gain inspiration from others, but we must focus on what is around us and on who we are.

Give yourself the grace to be you and to grow into the person you are meant to be.
