I Was The Baby's Daddy | Showing Up in Blended Family Relationships
Here’s a message for blended families. I became a first-time parent early in my life. My oldest daughter’s mother and I never got married, so I was the baby’s daddy. At that time, I didn’t think my daughter needed me. She had her mother and her mother ended up marrying someone, so my daughter had him too. In my mind, they could take better care of her than I could, so I felt like I didn’t measure up.
When my daughter got older she told me that she didn’t feel that I was very engaged in having a relationship with her. I got caught up in comparing myself to her mother and step-father. My thought that she didn’t need me wasn’t true. I regret not showing up and engaging in my daughter’s life as much as I could have.
I tell you this to encourage you to show up and do your best for your kids no matter your situation. It can be tough, but put your kids first and do what is best for them.
When you make better choices you will live a better life, so choose well. Oh yeah!
