It’s natural for us as humans to compare ourselves to others. However, it can become a problem when we start to feel bad about ourselves or we start to think we are better than other people. This is what I call the comparison trap.

QUESTIONS FOR DISCUSSION:

Do you think comparison is a trap? Why or why not?

What do you think of the quote, “There is no win in comparison”? What does that mean to you?

What do you think of the quote from Theodore Roosevelt, “Comparison is the thief of joy”? What does that mean to you?

Do you compare yourself to other people? Why do you think you do that? Does it make you feel bad or better about yourself?

In the video, I give one way to avoid falling for the comparison trap. What is it? Do you think it works? Why or why not? How do you think it works?

Can you think of some other ways to keep from falling for the comparison trap?

Activity: For the next five days, each day write down five things you are grateful for. I believe this will help you focus on what you have and not on what you don’t have.
