Honor Diversity, celebrate Unity
Did I change my mind about diversity? Sort of. This is an update to the Acceptance of Others three-part video series.

Words. Words. Words.
We use them every day. They are so simple, yet so challenging sometimes.
Words have meaning and they have nuance, and sometimes the way we use words changes over time.
I want to update my position on celebrating diversity.
Do I still believe that differences matter? Yes. We all need to be different and we should honor other people’s differences.
However, I believe that we need to celebrate unity. We should celebrate what brings us together as human beings. If we focus too much on our differences, it can drive us apart.
Like the human body needs all of its different parts to work together to function properly, we need all of our differences to come together in unity to work properly.

It’s a slight difference. It’s a nuanced difference, but I think it matters.
